Adelaide 36ers Welcome Tad Dufelmeier

The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce the signing of Tad Dufelmeier for the NBL22 season.

The Canberra-born 25-year-old, 183cm playmaking point guard joins the Sixers following a strong 2020-21 campaign with Cairns Taipans in which he averaged 6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game in 15 minutes per game. He kickstarted his NBL career in 2019 when signing with the Taipans as a development player.

Tad accumulated college basketball experience in the US beginning in 2014 when he joined the Salt Lake Community College Bruins for two seasons, before joining the Concordia Eagles for a further two. In his last season with the Eagles, he averaged 12.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 5.5 assists which saw him ready to become a professional.

Tad returned to Australia in 2019 to play in the NBL1 with the Hobart Huskies and in 18 games he averaged 18.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, shooting 50% from the field.

Tad’s talent and touch are reminiscent of his namesake father, former Canberra Cannons great Tad Sr, who played 178 NBL games and was part of the 1988 Cannons Championship team.

Tad is excited to join the Sixers this season and looks forward to getting out on the floor, “I’m keen to join the team and further my development as a player, especially around experienced players like Mitch McCarron, Sunday Dech, and DJ.”

General Manager of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen remarked, “We watched Tad closely last season and felt he was really growing into a role in this league. His work ethic is strong, the talent is there and we are glad he chose to join us”.

Head Coach Conner Henry said, “As a Club, we’re really excited to welcome Tad to the team. He’s an exciting young player that’s going to push the pace and really give some solid minutes behind Mitch McCarron. We really liked his growth last year and he played exceptionally against us in two games so we had our eye on him. I'm looking forward to working with him daily.”

Tad joins Dusty Hannahs, Mojave King, Mitch McCarron, and Kai Sotto as new additions to this season’s roster, as well as existing members Isaac Humphries, Sunday Dech, and Daniel Johnson.
