Bruton: 'We need to move forward'

Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton says his focus is on South East Melbourne Phoenix and about rebounding from Friday night’s 99-70 loss to New Zealand Breakers.
Bruton said his side needs to get their mindset right for the big task travelling to John Cain Arena for Sunday afternoon’s showdown with the firing Phoenix, who edged out the Wildcats 91-90 in Perth on Friday night.
“We have a another game coming up,” Bruton said post game. “It’s about flipping the script, what we need to get better at so we can play against Phoenix.
“Fixing this game is not going to help us for the next game.”
Adelaide committed 18 turnovers and allowed New Zealand to score 35 points off their mistakes, a stat which Bruton highlighted as an area his side must improve.
“I thought we were very careless, but we need to bounce back,” Bruton said.
“We have a lot to get done in a short period of time.
“Boxing out, sticks out, transition sticks out, playing Phoenix, they’re quick, they’re fast.”
Bruton looked to his bench to give his side some spark against the rampant Breakers and the coach was pleased with what he saw.
“I used my bench and they contributed,” Bruton said.
“Our offense didn’t look great at times, but the bench guys came in and did their part.
“To get them in and get their feet wet I know it’s a long season and to get everyone to contribute along the way is big for us.”
