Cadee returns to Rollers for 2024 season

Adelaide 36ers point guard Jason Cadee will return to NBL1 North this season to try and go one better at Gold Coast Rollers in 2024.

Cadee, who won the North Conference MVP in 2023, will be back at the Rollers and said he enjoys playing at NBL1 level and the club atmosphere.

“Gold Coast has actually really saved my love for basketball the last few years,” Cadee said after reflecting on his 2023 season, which finished in a grand final defeat to Ipswich Force in a tough three-game series.

“I've been involved in basketball my whole life so there's no doubt going to be tough times, but it's been really nice having Gold Coast there in the off-season to really just remind me why I love basketball.

“Just my enjoyment of it. A lot of people don't see the tough side of it, and I've definitely had extremely tough times through the last two years NBL-wise. Gold Coast has really helped me keep that enjoyment, keep that love.”

After leading the Rollers to the NBL1 North title in 2022, the 186cm point guard averaged 24.8 points, 12.2 assists and 6.7 rebounds during the NBL1 North 2023 season and during NBL24, Cadee averaged 5.5 points and 1.9 assists in his first season back at the 36ers.

Cadee scored a then-record 52 points, 13 assists and four rebounds against the Darwin Salties last season. A record then tied by Ky Stattman, and then broken by the NBL1 West’s Joe Cook-Green with 54 points later in the year.

Rollers coach and former Adelaide 36ers power forward Anthony Petrie said he can’t wait to bring back great mate Cadee for his fourth season with the club.

"We are obviously thrilled to have Jase back joining us for his fourth season as a Gold Coast Roller,” Petrie said.

“Everyone knows what he brings on the floor as the reigning MVP for NBL1 North, but he has been the centrepiece for our association in helping us establish what we want a Roller to be, from our juniors all the way through to our senior program.

“Anyone that has played with Jase truly understands the impact he has on a basketball team and we love that he chooses to do it with us. We never take for granted having him at our club and I know all our supporter base will be excited to see him out on the floor once again in season 24."
