Off-season recruit Antonius Cleveland is loving life at the Adelaide 36ers following a highlight-filled win over the Tasmania JackJumpers in the NBL Blitz on Monday evening.
Cleveland tore the game apart in a devastating opening quarter with 19 points and finished with 27, five rebounds and three assists.
Cleveland said he was just itching to get on the court at every opportunity.
“We’ve got three days off in between games, so I’m kind of looking forward to every one and I wanted to come out and be aggressive,” he said.
“He didn’t say much, just said to stick to our assignments, we know we can switch with anyone and just talk and once you do that, we’re hard to score on.”
He had a handy sidekick in Craig Randall II, who scored 17 points and Cleveland said there’s plenty more to come from the recruit.
“Buckets. He’s bringing a lot of buckets, he can create, he can play make, he’s just getting started in this league, he’s got to figure a few things out and once he’s done that he’s going to get better and better,” he said.
Cleveland added he’s enjoying his first pre-season in South Australia and has big hopes for the campaign.
“I love it, I think we have a lot of fun, we know where we need to be and it’s going to be a fun journey this year,” he said.
