Adelaide 36ers legend and Australian Basketball Hall of Fame member Ken Cole has praised the off-court efforts of his former club, and believes the side is embedded within the city’s sporting landscape like never before.
Cole, who was announced as the club’s number one ticket holder alongside former WNBL and WNBA star Erin Phillips, coached the 36ers to their inaugural championship in 1986, and represented Australia at the 1964 Olympics.
“I think this is an incredibly exciting period of time in Adelaide,” Cole said.
“I think the management here has achieved more in the last three to for years than I’ve seen at [any] club.
“And I’ve been doing this now for 62 years.

“This is the most successful I’ve ever seen a club pull things together over a relatively short period of time and turn the 36ers into a legitimate, major part of the Adelaide sporting community, and a place where a lot of other athletes come along to see what the 36ers are capable of doing.
“I think this team will start winning championships on a regular basis and I think the people – the same as we did way, way back – in this team will make the city proud.”
Adelaide’s first game of NBL24 will be in Brisbane against the Bullets on Friday, September 29.
