Marshall ready for Bullets battle at 'home'

Adelaide 36ers swingman Nick Marshall can’t wait to get back to Mount Gambier for Wednesday night’s NBL25 pre-season clash against Brisbane Bullets.

Marshall, who has spent the past four off-season playing for Mount Gambier Pioneers in the NBL1 South competition, will feel right at home at Wulanda Recreation Centre.

“I’m always excited to go back to Mount Gambier, it’s been my home for the past four years,” Marshall said.

“It’s such a great place, great community, the people down there are awesome, its always great crowds.”

After a tough NBL25 pre-season, the 198cm swingman can’t to get out on the floor and battle another opponent.

“I’ve loved pre-season, I really enjoy it, but it’s at that stage now where I’m just looking forward to playing games,” Marshall said.

“I’ll be ready to go come game time, it’s exciting to know I’ll be playing and I want to do a little bit of everything for the team, wherever I’m needed to play my role.

“We are looking forward to this game, Brisbane has been playing really well in their pre-season games.”

The Bullets come into Wednesday night’s clash firing on all cylinders with a 3-0 pre-season record, despite navigating a number of injuries to several key players.

Brisbane defeated Shanghai Sharks 94-75 on August 23 at home before winning both matches on their two-game road trip to Melbourne last week.

The Bullets were too strong for an undermanned Melbourne United 90-75 last Tuesday night, before also defeating South East Melbourne Phoenix 92-86 last Thursday night.

The reigning NBL1 South MVP and Pioneers Allan Scott Medal winner, Marshall has made the switch to the No.1 jersey for the NBL25 season, a number which has been close to him during his career.

“Finally, I get to wear the No.1 for the Sixers,” Marshall said.

“It’s a number I have wanted ever since I made the NBL, but the first year Tad Dufelmeier had the number, then we recruited AC (Antonius Cleveland) and by the time my No.9 was already locked in for last season and Trentyn (Flowers) took it.

“It will be great to finally wear the No.1 in Mount Gambier where I’ve worn it for my whole career down there.”
