McCarron, Drmic lead Wizards' double

Adelaide 36ers captain Mitch McCarron and off-season recruit Anthony Drmic have powered Northside Wizards' big double-header delight in a crucial weekend in NBL1 North.
McCarron and Drmic led from the front as the Wizards went 2-0 across the weekend with a 110-101 win against Logan Thunder, followed by a 99-82 triumph over Southern District Spartans.
Drmic caught fire for the Wizards against the Thunder, scoring a team-high 30 points, while McCarron added 23 points and 12 assists in the nine-point win on the road, which was setup with a blistering 34-15 third quarter burst.
The Boomers FIBA Asia Cup captain continued his top form 24 hours later, as the Wizards blew out the Spartans in a final quarter frenzy, McCarron pairing 24 points with nine assists. Drmic scored 28 points, including four three-pointers, and hauled down 11 rebounds in the 17-point success.
In Cairns, Kyrin Galloway continued his stellar NBL1 North campaign for Mackay with 14 points and seven rebounds in the Meteors' 88-78 win over the Marlins.
Mackay then had to travel to Darwin the next day to face the Salties, where Galloway had a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Meteors overran the NBL1's newest franchise in the second half for a 98-87 win.

Nick Marshall again proved to be one of the main reasons Mouth Gambier are one of the favourites to take out the NBL1 South Conference, helping the Pioneers to a vital road double on the weekend.
Marshall had 21 points, four rebounds and five assists as Mount Gambier stopped the Braves 91-86 in Bendigo on Saturday night, then backed up with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Pioneers came from the clouds to beat Geelong Supercats 92-86 on Sunday afternoon.
Daniel Johnson, who is competing at the Commonwealth Games in the 3x3 basketball tournament, missed Forestville Eagles' 114-72 win over Norwood Flames at The ARC on Saturday night.
