Mitch McCarron has ended weeks of speculation he was looking for a new team and has committed to the final year of his contract.
Rumours had been rampant since the end of the NBL23 season McCarron was looking for a new home, but the combo guard is already planning next season as a 36ers.
“I was contracted, I signed a three-year deal and I planned on staying,” McCarron said on Wednesday.
“My family loves Adelaide. Obviously, I’d love to have some better results moving forward and I’d love to be part of that.”
McCarron, who will remain in Adelaide and play in the NBL1 Central competition with West Adelaide Bearcats, said he didn’t know where the movement rumours started.
“There was a lot of talk going around of people on the move and what the clubs were doing, but that didn’t come from me, I’m locked in here,” he said.
The 189cm guard, who averaged 7.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per night across 26 games in NBL23, is locked in for the NBL24 campaign and is expecting some changes to the roster.
“A strong core is important to building a winning culture, but it’s pretty rare for an exact team to come back year on year,” McCarron said.
“We will wait and see who is on the free agent list when that comes out.”
NBL free agency starts next Thursday with McCarron committed to Adelaide along with Sunday Dech, Nick Marshall, Antonius Cleveland, Robert Franks and Kyrin Galloway.
