We didn't set the right tone: Bruton

Adelaide 36ers coach CJ Bruton said his team gave South East Melbourne Phoenix ‘everything they wanted’ in the 102-84 loss at John Cain Arena on Sunday.
Phoenix led at every change and dominated proceedings from start to finish and Bruton said some things can improve.
“We gave them everything they wanted and they had their way with us at different times,” he said.
“I thought in that first quarter, the way they were able to score 27 points, it’s not the right tone that you’re setting.
“We had some looks early, didn’t make them.
“We’ve got to keep finding ways to keep coming together.
“I like how we push the ball, we do a very good job of that.
“We need to keep finding ways to keep the ball moving.
“Some of our shot selection can improve.”
Nick Marshall was a shining light in the loss, scoring 15 points and Bruton was pleased with his impact off the bench.
“Nick Marshall has been great, he’s a DP (development player) that’s getting to play without having someone like Craig Randall II here, he’s an elite player, he’ll be part of our roster next year,” he said.
“He’s showing signs from last year to this year, I knew early and that’s why I played him all pre-season.
“He can play now and hopefully he’s a big part of Adelaide’s future.”
The 36ers next play Brisbane at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, before facing Tasmania, also at home – get tickets here.
