The Adelaide 36ers today announce the signing of Zac Gattorna who will fill the Club’s second Development Player position.
Gattorna, 22, has trained with the 36ers over the past three seasons and has impressed by bringing a hard-working and intensely competitive approach to each practice session.
A 201cm (6’7) forward, Gattorna is coming off a strong Perth Redbacks NBL1 West season where he posted averages of 18 points and 7 rebounds per contest. A Western Australia Metro Team representative throughout his Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 years, Gattorna now reaches his stated ambition of officially making his way into an NBL program.
Adelaide 36ers General Manager of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen stated, “Zac is a young man who has been a constant at our pre-seasons for the past few years. He is rarely beaten for passion and work ethic and his emerging skill-set is now catching up with his intensity for the game. We welcome Zac to the Club.”
Head Coach CJ Bruton added, “Gattorna has a very high-level motor, with good size and strength. He has the ability to play multiple positions and can really stretch the floor. His story is unique as is his drive to get better every day. He's always putting in the extra work and doing it at game pace which stands out when he's on the floor”.
Gattorna joins local SA big man Lachlan Olbrich in the DP ranks, with a third player expected to be announced soon.
