Five-year home venue extension rewards 36ers fans

Adelaide 36ers Owner and Chairman Grant Kelley is thrilled with the five-year extension to make the Entertainment Centre the club’s home court until 2029.

Kelley said the move from the Adelaide 36ers Arena to the Entertainment Centre in 2019 has been a great reward for the fans.

“I couldn’t be more delighted to work with Adelaide Venue Management and the Government of South Australia, who have been magnificent in finding a home for our club,” Kelley said at the announcement last week.

“Since we moved to the Entertainment Centre in 2019, frankly it has been a revelation for our fans and our club.

“To our 6000 members, or sponsors and most importantly, our thousands of loyal fans, we thank them all for their ongoing support.”

Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said the Entertainment Centre is becoming a great home for sport in South Australia.

“It’s been a fabulous partnership and what I love more than anything, is this is family friendly and it’s so good to see families out here and supporting and what a wonderful way to inspire our kids,” Bettison said.

“I’m a basketball mum now, so I’m down at my local recreation centre every Sunday supporting my son.

“But what is best is coming to support our elite athletes, we want to the 36ers to do well, but we also want to show them that we back them all the time because we love what they do, the thrills, the excitement, the athleticism running up and down that court.”

Adelaide 36ers head coach CJ Bruton said the club was thrilled to have their home at Brett Maher Court locked in until the end of the 2029 NBL season.

“I’m super excited to know that the Entertainment Centre is going to be our home, hearing that announcement is a special moment for us and I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing our fans pack the stands,” Bruton said.

Kelley paid tribute to the Adelaide 36ers Arena, which remains the club’s training base, but said the Entertainment Centre adds a lot to the home game experience.

“It’s hallowed ground, we love that facility, but we couldn’t hope for a better venue for our fans,” Kelley said.

“We will always honour the past, we still train at the venue, but this is the future for us and our fans have voted with their feet.”
