Peter Ali to join Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame

The Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the induction of Peter Ali to the Club’s Hall of Fame.

The 195cm forward played 279 games across 11 seasons for both the 36ers and the West Adelaide Bearcats and is a two-time NBL champion.

Ali said to be inducted into the Club’s Hall of Fame was a huge honour, especially joining a lot of former teammates.

“It’s one of those things where it’s nice to be recognized by your peers,” Ali said.

“The fact that I have played with all those guys is great. Scotty (Ninnis), (Mark) Davis, Darryl (Pearce), (Al) Green, (Mike) McKay, it’s fantastic.”

Adelaide 36ers Executive Chairman Grant Kelley said the Club is proud to induct Ali as the ninth member to the Hall of Fame.

“To be inducted into the Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame is the Club’s highest honour, and Peter is an incredibly worthy inductee,” Kelley said.

“Peter not only achieved great success on the court but following his playing days also contributed enormously as a coach, administrator, mentor, and ambassador.

“I have personally appreciated Peter’s support during the past several years where we have sought to restore the Club's past successes.”

Ali, who will join Ken Cole, Brett Maher, Mark Davis, Darryl Pearce, Phil Smyth, Al Green, and Scott Ninnis Mike McKay in the Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame, said he took no time in accepting the honour.

“Grant gave me a call and said there was an opportunity there if I wanted to accept, which I took about half a second to accept,” Ali said.

The Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame and Most Valuable Player awards night will be held at SkyCity Adelaide on Friday, February 23.
