Oklahoma City Thunder star and former Adelaide 36er Josh Giddey said there was 'some relief' after the NBA side defeated the 36ers 131-98.
Giddey said he and his teammates put in their homework on the Adelaide 36ers, who only days earlier stunned the world by defeating the Phoenix Suns.
“There was some relief, I didn’t want to be on the end of another loss,” he said.
“We knew not to take them lightly, we scouted them and went over that.
“We know they’re a really good team, beating Phoenix shows that.
“We tried to get on the front foot early, which we did.
“It was great fun playing against them and I wish them all the best this season,”
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault echoed Giddey's sentiments complimented the 36ers' style of play and said he knew his team had to be at their best to shut them down.
“They had us on edge with how they played in Phoenix, they put a lot of pressure on you with their movement, the pace they play at, their movements,” he said.
“At the end of the day, I think we played really well and we had to earn it."
The 36ers will travel back to Australia before starting their NBL23 campaign on Thursday night.
