The Adelaide 36ers are pleased to announce the signing of point guard Mitch McCarron, to a three-year deal. The 29-year-old, 189cm playmaker joins the Sixers after three years with Melbourne United, culminating in a Championship. Thoughout the season he averaged 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. Born in Alice Springs, McCarron played US College basketball with the Metro State Roadrunners for three seasons, where he was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Player of the Year in 2015. Following college, he played in the Spanish League with Palencia Baloncesto before returning home to Australia in 2016 to join the Cairns Taipans. In 2017 he was part of the Boomers team at the FIBA Asia Cup, and played an important role in helping secure a gold medal win. Mitch is excited to join the Adelaide 36ers, “I’m looking forward to continuing my development as a professional basketballer alongside DJ, Isaac, and Sunday and led by Conner Henry. I really look forward to playing in front of the passionate Sixers fans". Head Coach Conner Henry said, “I am really excited to have the Championship-winning point guard from this past season joining us. Mitch will bring leadership, decision making and a winner’s perspective and culture to our Club. Welcome Macca!” Adelaide 36ers Chairman, Grant Kelley, said, “Mitch is considered one of the best local players in the league and was a highly sought-after player in free agency, we are thrilled he chose to join the Adelaide 36ers. We look forward to welcoming him to Adelaide and introducing him to our members and fans.” General Manager of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen welcomes McCarron to the Sixers, “Mitch is a key addition to our roster. He’s a leader and a winner and we are grateful he’s chosen to lock in with us for the next three seasons”. McCarron joins Isaac Humphries, Sunday Dech, and Daniel Johnson as existing contracted players on the 36ers roster for the NBL22 Season, with further new player announcements to be made in the coming week.
