Humphries says Sixers ready for United battle

Adelaide 36ers centre Isaac Humphries is confident his side can turn a tough week on the training track into victory against Melbourne United on Saturday night.
Humphries, who scored a game-high 26 points in Adelaide’s 91-84 loss to Illawarra Hawks on New Year’s Eve, said the showdown with United is a huge chance for redemption.
“We know we can compete; we have been in those games with them this season,” Humphries said.
“We can work hard this week, get a really good game plan, we can hone in on that.
“We will be confident coming out at home and try to give it our best there and get a win.”
The 36ers have had chances to win in both games against United this season, but have been unable to capitalise on their hard work, a theme Humphries said has been around all year.
“It is a consistent theme for us and it’s disappointing and frustrating just as much on the court as it is for Scotty on the sideline,” Humphries said.
“We talk about it so much and we want to make it better but we just have these lulls that literally take us out of the game and we can’t get back, it’s extremely frustrating.
“That second half was disappointing for myself, so I’ll be working all week, thinking about it all week trying to redeem myself.
“So, it might be a chip on my shoulder type of game because of that.”

Despite falling behind in games throughout the NBL24 campaign, the 36ers have fought back on every occasion.
“All season there hasn’t been a question whether we fight or not,” Humphries said.
“Coming out of half time we didn’t bring what we needed to win that game.”
Adelaide will play Melbourne United at the Entertainment Centre this Saturday night from 7.30pm when the club celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1998/99 NBL championship.
