Cadee, Galloway to face off in grand battle

Teammates will become enemies this weekend in the NBL1 North grand final series between Gold Coast Rollers and Ipswich Force.

Returning Adelaide 36ers point guard Jason Cadee will lead the Rollers in the three-game series against Kyrin Galloway and the Force.

Ipswich qualified for the decider with an impressive second half performance on the road in their 87-78 success against Logan Thunder on Saturday night.

The Force trailed by as much as 19 points in the opening quarter and went into the half time break down 50-35, but a 33-14 third quarter sparked Ipswich, who controlled the contest after taking the lead just before the final break.

Galloway was big at the defensive end for the Force, reducing former Adelaide 36ers forward Majok Deng to just 11 points while adding five points, four rebounds and a block.

Ipswich will face a Gold Coast side who are full of confidence after the Rollers used a 27-15 opening quarter avalanche to get past South West Metro Pirates 108-95 at Carra Stadium last Friday night.

Cadee was superb again for the Rollers and continued his outstanding NBL1 North campaign, the league MVP scored 22 points, dished 11 assists, and grabbed eight rebounds to go with two steals.

The NBL1 North grand final series will be hosted at Carrara Stadium this weekend, game one is Friday night, game two Saturday night and the teams will play a deciding game three if required, on Sunday afternoon.

A near triple double from Mitch McCarron wasn’t enough for West Adelaide to qualify for the NBL1 Central grand final on Sunday afternoon, the Bearcats going down 83-81 to Forestville Eagles at Port Adelaide stadium.

McCarron scored 15 points, hauled down 12 rebounds, dished nine assists, and picked up three steals and Development Player Fraser Roxburgh added four points and two rebounds, but the Eagles fought back in the second half to book their place in the big dance

The Bearcats however, have another chance to make the grand final, West Adelaide will host Sturt Sabres this Saturday night in a do-or-die preliminary final.

Sturt eliminated South Adelaide Panthers from the championship race on Sunday afternoon 98-71 at Springbank Stadium.

Alex Starling (adductor) was a late omission for the Panthers due to injury and the Sabres capitalised to win all four quarters and set up a showdown with the Bearcats.

The Sabres are missing Development Player Keanu Rasmussen, who won’t play any further part in Sturt’s title run after ankle surgery.
